After a record breaking run of form, Aston Villa notched up ten wins on the spin to propel ourselves into the Play-Off spots and as we know with a successful trip to Wembley we are back in the Premier League for the 2018/19 campaign.
It was an incredibly busy transfer window under head coach Dean Smith, and we saw numerous arrivals as we padded the group out given the free agents who departed over the summer. As ever though, and as we turn a much better focus to our youth under the new setup, a few players left looking to make their mark in loan spells and impress their own talents upon the gaffer.
Seven moved on for full season loan spells, so with the first month over when it comes to the competitive fixtures, here’s how they are all getting on so far as we head into September.
Matija Sarkic made the trip up north to Scottish side Livingston and although he’s yet to feature in the league campaign for them, he has made three Scottish League Cup appearances, keeping one clean sheet.
Andre Green got a crack at the Championship having joined Preston North End and he’s now made two EFL Cup starts, returning a goal – with three additional substitute showings in the league.
Jake Doyle-Hayes headed to League Two for a spell with Cheltenham Town and he’s now made six starting appearances for them across all competitions.
James Bree got another crack at the Championship with a loan spell to Luton Town, and he’s already made five starting appearances for them, with one further showing from the bench.
Callum O’Hare headed to Coventry City and the ironic Trillion Trophy Stadium and he’s now made two starts, with an additional two appearances from the bench. He also opened his goalscoring account for them in last weekend 3-3 draw with Oxford United.
Rushian Hepburn-Murphy also headed out to League One, but to Tranmere Rovers and he certainly had an impact on his debut – he saw a straight red card. Having now served his suspension, he’s made an additional two substitute showings.
Finally, Scott Hogan made the switch to Stoke City and he’s made three starts with three substitute showings. He opened his account for them with a brace against Derby County in their league clash.
